Autumn Burlesque Fundraiser

Thank you to everyone who turned out to the Autumn Burlesque fundraising night on Friday 28th October – the grand total of £1421 was collected.  The WK Initiative/Craft Town Scotland organized the event and money raised will contribute to the Barony Centre redevelopment.

The evening certainly added more than a hint of spice to a crisp autumnal evening, with local Burlesque dancing troupe “Pro Burlesque” strutting their stuff and leading a ‘how to’ workshop with the help of 3 volunteers from the audience.

Local business “Class Cocktails” once again was on hand to provide delicious cocktails – aptly named Cranberry Kiss and Scrumptious Pear - and the ‘sassy’ theme of the evening was continued with wonderful cake creations topped with cherries and edible mini-basques from Emily McGregor of Happyhills Cakes.

The students of Reid Kerr College, who proved that our future beauty is safe in their hands, provided nail treatments, beauty treatments and facial massages.  Whilst waiting between events, great bargains could be had from the wonderful range of dresses, hats and accessories donated by local fashion fans.

Carrying on the ‘how to look good’ theme in the best ‘Gok Kwan tradition’, Sharon McPherson of Opus Couture and Opus Occasions held 3 packed workshops of ‘how to keep it all together’ using shape wear.  Using her lovely daughter Cavan as model, Sharon then showed us how to dress up ‘that little black dress’.  Sharon also provided 3 beautiful designer outfits for a Silent Auction.

WKCIL and the Craft Town Committee wish to give a huge vote of thanks to you all for providing such a fabulous nights entertainment, to all the valiant volunteers who helped plan and organize the evening, to everyone who donated items and to Marion from WK Village Hall for her usual wonderful service before, during and after the event.
